Create a Mirrored Silver Text Effect Using Styles

- Photoshop CS1 (Adobe)
Sample Text Effect
Below, Screenshot 1 shows one sample of the effect we will achieve. More examples will be shown at the end of this article.
Add Text
- Create a new RGB Color image with a White background.
- Press D on the keyboard to select the default colors.
- Add 72pt black text.
Add Bevel And Emboss Style
- Choose Layer Style | Bevel And Emboss from the Layer menu.
- In the Structure section:
- Set Depth to 371%.
- In the Shading section:
- Clear the Use Global Light check box.
- Select Cone from the Gloss Contour drop-down list.
- Select the Anti-aliased check box.
- Set Highlight Opacity to 100%.
- Select Normal from the Shadow Mode drop-down list.
- Set Shadow Opacity to 40%.
- Verify all other settings match Screenshot 2:
- Click OK to close the Layer Style dialog box.
Set Background Color
- Select the Background layer.
- Press ALT+DELETE to fill the layer with black.

Following are a few samples to demonstrate how this text effect will look when applied to various fonts. The samples below were chosen for their ability to show off this text affect. Results will vary depending on the font chosen. Therefore, this text effect might not be appropriate for every font.
