This article has been tested to work with the following products and versions. No guarantee of compatibility, with or without modification, is offered for products or versions other than those listed.
We will walk through the simple process of installing Microsoft Windows 7 Beta, build 7000 onto a virtual machine. Assumed is a general knowledge and familiarity with virtualization software such as Microsoft Virtual Server 2005 R2, which is used here.
There will be a lot of screenshots and little discussion?only what is needed for clarification over and above what is in the screenshot captions.

Create a new virtual machine

Before we install the Windows 7 Beta, we will create a new virtaul machine using Virtual Server 2005 R2.

Install Windows 7 Beta

With the virtual machine created and the Windows 7 Beta ISO captured, start the virtual machine to begin the instalation.
